Mirna began her professional career as a shipping clerk with Eurocaribe Shipping Services in Belize in 2001. She immediately took passion in Shipping Services, and with great enthusiasm, she became more knowledgeable and continued a desire to keep learning she worked her way up within the company, and also managed to earn her bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of the West Indies in 2009.

With well over 20 years of experience in the shipping industry, she acquired vast knowledge of the cruise and cargo operations in Belize and her ability to keep up with current and updated port and local requirements and worked hand in hand with the late Michael Williams (Eurocaribe Founder) in P&l correspondent matters, representing Maritime Claims Americas (MCA), which later changed its name to Maritime Claims Administrators, LLC. (MCA).

OVER 20 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN THE SHIPPING INDUSTRY

In 2021, as a result of Eurocaribe winding down, Mirna took the next logical step of opening her own shipping company, Apex Shipping Agency Limited, but also maintaining her agreement and involvement as P&l Correspondent for Maritime Claims Administrators (MCA) in Belize. This is a relationship that has been in existence for well over 20 years.

Mirna’s experience over the last 20+ years has provided extensive training as a claims handler with legal and technical matters. Further, in her day-to-day operations, she has developed excellent relationships with local and port authorities that have certainly assisted in expediting cases/claims; thus, maximizing the principal’s potential financial exposures.

MCA BELIZE HAS CREATED A NETWORK OF MEDICAL PROVIDERS, HOSPITALS, SURVEYORS, AND LAWYERS

Through Mirna’s efforts and support from MCA Headquarters, MCA BELIZE has created a network of service providers including Medical Providers, Hospitals, Surveyors, and Lawyers that have proven to be very essential to P&l matters. In addition, her experience in handling many types of claims and P&I casualties, together with her ability to keep up with current and updated port and local requirements, enables MCA Belize to guarantee professional and qualified assistance to P&I Clubs, Vessel Owners, Cruise Lines, and other entities.
