Fernando Lorenzana heads our correspondent in Guatemala, with the assistance of Ms. Kathy Mehrwald and Ms. Ana Fajardo. Mr. Lorenzana is fluent in Spanish, English and German.

Mr. Lorenzana is a dynamic young Guatemalan businessman whose career has been centered in the shipping industry.

His career began as a general cargo surveyor and claims handler for the American Institute of Marine Underwriters in Guatemala and as line manager for the Guatemalan operations of Kawasaki Kissen Kaisha Line (K-Line) of Japan, for Harrison Line in England, and for a family company established for more than 50 years in Guatemala, Agencias Unidas.

Mr. Lorenzana received formal training (obtaining a degree) in shipping matters in Hamburg, Germany, at the office of Transnautic GmbH where he worked for three years. He also has worked for and owned steamship agencies in Guatemala, including Euro cam, agents for Cobalt Line, American Express Line and Lord, S.A.
